Cafe and Bakery Extra Fine restaurant now open at Monte Vista in San Antonio

Extra Fine, a new San Antonio bakery and cafe overseen by Hot Joy and Barbaro veterans Jess and John Philpot, has opened in Monte Vista.

Extra Fine, a new San Antonio bakery and cafe run by Hot Joy and Barbaro veterans Jess and John Philpot, has opened in Monte Vista.

The boutique, which is open daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for take-out only at the moment, offers cinnamon buns, sticky buns, muffins, cookies, cakes, and breakfast platters. -lunch like quiches, avocado toast and an egg and bacon sandwich with roasted tomatoes and fontina cheese.

Lunch, which according to the Facebook page starts at 11 a.m., includes roasted cauliflower soup, beet and avocado salad, a grilled cheese sandwich, and a roast pork and Thai herb sandwich. Prices range from $ 2 to $ 8 at breakfast and $ 6 to $ 9 at lunch.


The Extra Fine also serves coffee drinks, tea and fresh juices.

The store’s website and Facebook page indicate that it is part of Chad Carey’s group Empty Stomach, which, along with pizzeria Barbaro and Asian fusion spot Hot Joy, includes Little Death wine bar, music room Paper Tiger and Rumble and Midnight Swim bars.

The location previously housed the pop-up cafes by Carlucci and Luz Mia Restaurant.
