Latest information on the reopening of Burton’s Birds Bakery

A popular bakery that has been closed since March has finally released its reopening date.

Birds Bakery had decided to keep its Station Street store closed since the lockdown in March even though retailers were allowed to reopen following the coronavirus pandemic. The High Street Birds Bakery has already reopened.

Bosses have chosen to keep the Station Street store closed due to the £ 1.4million regeneration work underway outside the street, which is now nearing completion.

Many other Station Street stores have since reopened.

However, news that the regeneration work is nearing completion means that the bosses of Birds have announced its reopening date.

It will be 8 a.m. on Monday October 26.

Mike Hollin, Sales Manager at Birds Bakery, said: “I went down on the weekend and all the fences were still in place.

“But I noticed on our CCTV this morning that the fence is now falling.

Here’s how to get your newspaper delivered to your door:

“We are now preparing the store to enforce social distancing guidelines and retrain staff as the store has been closed since March.

“The wait has been long but we are very happy to open.

“We are very attached to Burton and have two stores in the city.”

Improvements to Station Street include brand new paving for the entire stretch of the shopping street as well as raised flower beds to make the city area more attractive to shoppers.

It comes after the High Street Bakery Shop reopened to customers on Monday, July 6.
